Become a Mentor

The Fighting Back Mentor Program is a preventative effort aimed towards at-risk 4th-8th grade students in South Santa Barbara County. Participating youth are paired in one-on-one relationships with volunteer mentors. For one hour a week for a minimum of one year, mentors meet with the kids and provide on-going personal and academic support and encouragement. The kids simply need someone in their life who cares about them as an individual, someone who introduces them to new activities, challenges, and ideas.

Every mentorship is unique and we at the Fighting Back Mentor Program do our very best to ensure that all involved parties benefit from this program. All kids must want to be a part of this program, and we interview each one before we introduce them to our mentors. Mentors must also be interviewed and will participate in an orientation so they know what to expect.

For more information, please visit our website: http://cadasb.org/youth-services/school-based-mentoring.aspx or look at our blog: www.fightingbackmentorprogram.blogspot.com.

Also, feel free to contact the program directly: mentorprogram@cadasb.org or (805) 963-1433.
